Now Hiring! Educational Assistants at Main Campus and Ramona

Chapman is currently hiring EAs for the main campus and the Ramona. The positions are slightly less than half time (.43) and will include duties such as assisting classroom teachers, helping with lunch and recess duty, and working with small groups. Time sensitive: Donor’s Choose matching funds will expire for 3rd grade projects soon

These Donor’s Choose projects directly benefit students at Chapman. Please choose your favorite one (or two or three),  give what you can and remember to  share them out to your personal social networks (easy-click buttons at bottom of this post). This is a great way for grandparents   and friends outside of our parent community to benefit kids inside our community!

A 1:1 dollar match for Ms. McLaughlin’s project up to $50 is available only until August 31 by using the code RIPPLE.

REMINDER: Ice Cream Social + Picnic starts at 4:30 today!

If you need a whole pizza, this is your last chance to order. Email Kelly at kelly.r.farrell@gmail.com by NOON. Slices and water will be sold while they last starting at 6 p.m.

Remember to bring a blanket, your dinner and form of payment if you will be purchasing, gear or food!

Teachers will be located on the front lawn. After care, enrichment and other organizations will be by the covered area, including reps for our next community event, the SWIFT FAMILY RUN! Sign up is free, but required to participate!

Ice Cream truck line will go along the turf field. One free ice cream per attendee, while it lasts! If you have an ice cream fast-pass (because you volunteered at Community Cares Day) remember to bring it!

The new playground is not yet ready for use.

Finally, the social and picnic are great opportunities to catch up with those you know, but please remember to say hello to someone you don’t!  We have a lot of new families joining us this year – let’s show them what makes our community extra special!

Important Changes to this Year’s Ice Cream Social + Picnic

If you’ve been at Chapman for awhile, you’ll remember when classroom lists were posted at the ice cream social, making it the first  “must attend” event of the school year.
That tradition has ended (you’ll receive classroom assignments via snail mail this week), but this year’s event includes important changes that make it just as essential and even more fun!

In addition to meeting your child(ren)’s classroom teacher, you’ll be able to:

  • Pick up back-to-school paperwork packets and bus tags
  • Join the PTA
  • Learn about and sign up for volunteer opportunities
  • Meet with representatives from after care and enrichment programs
  • Shop our brand-new lineup of Chapman spirit wear and gear

And of course, enjoy a FREE sweet treat from our neighborhood friend, Tilly the Ice Cream Truck! 

All parents, students, staff and friends are invited to stay after the social and meet on the viewing hill for an early-season Swift Watch. (Or just socialize if the Swifts are late in arriving!) Bring your own picnic or purchase pizza/water.

EVENT DETAILS

DATE, TIME AND LOCATION: Thursday, August 23 at Chapman’s main campus. The social is from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. The picnic is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

PARKING: Our friends at Montgomery Park (2701 NW Vaughn St) are making their lot available for parking. Biking/walking/public transport is highly encouraged!

FOOD: Bring your own picnic or purchase pizza/water. If you’d like to pre-order a whole pizza, contact Kelly Farrell @ kelly.r.farrell@gmail.com by Noon on Thursday, Aug. 23. 

BRING: Picnic blanket, dinner, and, if you’re so inclined, payment for PTA dues, pizza and Chapman gear. Cash, credit and checks accepted.

Can’t make the social? No worries! Packets will be ready for you when school starts.
